This house, with no fences, 65% panoramic glazing, and an open-plan design without interior doors, boldly showcases a lifestyle of openness and connection to nature—a modern interpretation of Fachwerk architecture combined with traditional downshifting living. This approach is particularly unique for its location.
Departing from conventional sloped roofs and heavy beams, the design introduces an innovative solution: frameless glazing fills the grid of panels, concealing the frame columns from view. This absence of visible structural elements creates a seamless, flat glass surface, enhancing the sense of continuity between the interior and exterior. The intricate terrace system further blurs the boundaries, immersing residents in the surrounding wilderness.
The project also reflects the architect's experimental vision, as demonstrated by several creatively overcoming challenges. The property originally contained a landfill, which the owner transformed into two beautiful artificial ponds, adding aesthetic and environmental value. Additionally, the significant elevation difference on the site was ingeniously used to create a striking cantilevered section of the house that extends 4.5 meters beyond the edge, giving the structure a daring and adventurous character.
In line with sustainable practices, the owner plans to plant crops on the roof, with all necessary technical equipment built into the roof space. This maximizes the use of available space and highlights the owner's commitment to green living and innovation.
