Project Description

The MOBY-DICK coffee house project began in December 2018, with clients bringing a unique vision: to create a space reminiscent of a Soviet-era professor's apartment, filled with artifacts from extensive travels across Africa. The goal was to craft an "unfashionable" interior with a distinct character, eschewing trends in favor of individuality.

To bring this vision to life, we developed several interpretations of the concept, with one reflected in the current design. The materials used evoke the Soviet era: herringbone parquet, classic ceiling cornices, and mosaic flooring reminiscent of Soviet apartment entrances.

Most furniture is sourced from the Italian brand Calligaris, except a custom soundbar from our "BY furniture" line. Lighting fixtures were selected from AROMAS (Spain), &Tradition (Denmark), and Centrsvet (Russia). Additionally, two custom ceramic wall lamps (Ceramic MAY) were created for this project and placed between the windows.

The bar counter serves as the focal point of the interior, featuring chipped tile work by street artist Yevgeny Cowek. Based on our sketches, Yevgeny added his own touches, incorporating motifs of African vegetation while preserving the original design intent.
