We transformed an open-plan space into a three-room apartment. By removing the inner glazing of a large loggia, we gained about 160 sq. ft. of additional usable space, which brought in more natural light.
The windows, positioned along the perimeter but not reaching the floor, inspired the design concept. To maintain visual consistency, we elevated all the cabinetry by 16 inches, with integrated lighting beneath the bases. This approach enhances the apartment's airy and open feel. A deep blue color adds character and depth to the space. Since the owner will use the apartment sparingly, we prioritized originality over strict functionality.
The kitchen, integrated with the living room, showcases deep blue hues, Dekton stone, Gubi chairs, and Faro Barcelona lamps, creating a sophisticated and luxurious atmosphere.
We experimented with unique wood textures, using elm root veneer on the bedroom and living room furniture. The bedrooms each have distinct atmospheres: one features a calm blue palette with Gubi lamps and a Minotti bed, while the other is light and playful, with pastel walls, a vibrant carrot-colored cabinet, and a minimalist MDF Italia bed.
White matte glass doors between the bedrooms allow light to flow seamlessly from one room to another, enhancing the apartment's openness.
